Aguila and Municipal Lima open the curtain of the Clausura 2021 tournament in search of starting with the right foot on day 1 of the first phase in a new contest to meet the Salvadoran soccer monarch and seek a place in this year’s Concacaf League.

This Saturday a total of 5 matches will be played corresponding to matchday one, which includes matches that attract a lot of attention as is the derby between Metapán and Sports Club Fas in the Jorge “Calero Suarez” by the western group.

Another match that steals the spotlight is the duel between Alianza Fútbol Club and Santa Tecla Fútbol Club, which officially opens the tournament. The albos will look for their first three-time short tournament championship, something that only Isidro Metapán has achieved in short tournaments, when he was victorious in the Apertura 2013, Clausura 2014 and Apertura 2014 tournaments.

The rest of the matches on Saturday are Jocoro against Firpo in the eastern group, Chalatenango receives Mars in the group of the central zone and tomorrow close the day Once Deportivo against Sonsonate in Ahuachapán in the western group.

The tournament retains the format of the previous championship, a first phase of groups by regions and according to their classification in this phase they are accommodated in two groups of 6 teams of which the first 4 classify each sector to the quarterfinals. The final is scheduled to be played at Cuscatlán Stadium in May 2021.
